Personal - Good Friday Lazarus

Hi Blog,

It's Good Friday today, a holiday! Yippee! What should I do today? Some time ago, my friend J accompanied me on camping trips to Puala Hantu and several hiking excursions. Subsequently, he had to attend to certain family matters. Once matters had settled, he wanted a break and requested that I accompany him on a visit to an island.

The weather today appeared to be quite favourable.
But but... I don't like the idea of visiting Lazarus, especially on public holidays... But that is the only day when he can take a break from his part-time work and feel that his mother is able to take care of herself. I think from my past Lazarus visits, I had never tried to visit on public holidays. I will take this opportunity to show you why.

If you missed my previous trips to Lazarus Island, you can check them out here. Oh my, I am a Lazarus regular. Lazarus Island and Kusu Island (2017) and again (2017), Solo trip (2017), Drone on the Island (2018), Disappointed Trip (2019), Chao Ta Day (2020), Me-Time (2020), Leading a Group (2020), Beach boy (2021), Visiting the island (2021), Explored the Unexplored (2021), Rainy Island (2021), Best Suntan (2022), Monday Orange (2022), Leading a Hike (2022), Sunny Island (2022), Mr Sun's Island (2023), Lesser Sun (2023), No Water (2023), Access while Low Tide (2023), New Tent (2024), Free Trip (2025), Quiet Battle Within (2025), A Day at Lazarus (2025), Weekend Suntan (2026), Eyesore Tanning (2026)

Hmm... It seemed like I might be late reaching that pier, so I couldn't delay any longer.
I wish my impression of Lazarus during the holidays were wrong, but I highly doubt it.
Okay, the cabin was less crowded for the last station, so it seemed promising.
Okay, I take back my words... Oh no...
Families and groups! Like they are going to Batam! Haha. I was not surprised.
Oooo, something new was harbouring here, but I couldn't get a good look at it.
It may seem like it is not that bad...
After a few minutes...
Told you!
I told J that public holidays and weekends are the days to avoid.
Anyway, I was here to hear his life out, trying to understand what he had been through.
Nice weather!
(Credit J) Okay, J. I might need your help to snap a picture of this fat seal.
I love this place.
It seemed like there was a high tide on this day.
I didn't bring my tent along because it is obviously heavy, and I have something to do after this.
Anyway, it seemed like I needed to quickly disgust any incoming visitor from coming near this pavilion.
I tried to move around to mark my area before anyone comes near here.
Being an untoned, ugly shortie - disgust is my vibe.
I guess some people just don't bother as long as I don't make anyone vomit on the spot or stay far away from them.
What a beautiful sky today. Even though I don't want to stop snapping photos of the ugly-me.
I guess... I will just embrace it or choose to use AI to edit the photo to make myself look different, which I didn't.
(Credit J) Trying to ask J for help. To disgust him more, but thanks for helping me before I got into the water..
(Credit J) It seemed like the quality of my phone is better than my camera, but with me in the photos, it makes no difference. But I have to mention this: I saw a jellyfish swimming towards my direction! Fortunately, it didn't sting me, but I could see its long tentacles. I had to exit the water before anything happened. Scary!
More and more visitors started to show up, and the feeling of 'meh' clouded all my senses...
Anyway, it's time for a suntan before more people start to take over the beach.
Alright, time for suntanning!
Okay, the crowd was getting more and more... I didn't want to disgust other people further. I wanted to take a look at St John's Island, especially since there is no ferry operating there anymore.
Oh... Some people just pointed fingers at me and then laughed. Haha, yeah, don't worry, I am leaving the space for you guys.
This family will take over this pavilion.
(Credit J) I kept forgetting to bring extra clothing, and I couldn't wear my shorts over wet trunks, so I just had to cover myself to make other people feel embarrassed as I am no demigod for others to worship.
Just check out the number of visitors here now. Actually, it is great to have visitors to visit this beautiful place so there are enough funds to maintain this island.
I thought because of the closure of St John's Island harbour, we might be expecting fewer people on this path.
But no, there were visitors exploring there.
We were heading towards the far side of the beach.
It seemed like we weren't alone.
(Credit J) Strong wind here, almost exposed my disgusting bod to others. What a troll!
This bridge, I don't know how long it will last... So every single photo taken of this bridge serves as a memorial.
Hope there is no jellyfish here.
Meanwhile, I tried to explore the place and found this big tree stump; just check out how massive its root system is.
I wish to snap a better photo but I can't carry it...
It seems like this place was sealed... No longer accessible... So sad... You can check my 2023 exploration.
It seemed like it was going to rain, but it was in Singapore.
Will it rain over there?
Anyway, after soaking in the sea for a while, we took a good bath and started to pack up.
(Credit J) Since J was here, let's have him help me snap a picture with these words, St. John's Island.
(Credit J) We won't know whether they will remove these words or not. I believe they have some plan for this island.
Time to go back to Singapore. The crowds though...
Maybe next time, if I go to the island during a public holiday, I will visit Kusu Island; maybe it will be quieter. Who knows?
Time to have a good nap... Quite tired...
Bad weather in Singapore, but I had a good nap on the ferry.
I did careful research; it is the historic vessel Vega (a 134-year-old vessel from Norway) which just landed in Singapore. And she will only be here for four days! I was so lucky to see this vessel. You can Google for more information.
Overall, visiting Lazarus Island during the public holidays is a big no for me, but if you don't mind the crowds, then you may go ahead. I will try to visit Kusu Island or St John's Island for a quiet suntan in the future. Enough Lazarus for the moment.

Jeff
