Good morning Blog,
I really missed Lazarus Island... I missed just lying on the beautiful beach, not doing anything. I had a thought... Why not go on the weekend this time? Previously, I didn't go on weekends because, during COVID days, weekends were packed with visitors, hence why I only went on weekdays; and not everyone could travel, perhaps there have been changes.
| I thought I’d give it a shot today since the weather was nice. |
I invited T to accompany me on this trip because he always wants to go, and since he was available in the morning, I don't need to spend too much time there, so it is good to clear the queue list. Today's blog post will be a short and 'eyesore-ing' one.
Oh dear... I realised that I could not find my tent and mat. I wondered where I had stored my stuff. So today I will go to Lazarus Island lightly...
| The morning train ride crowd to Marina South Pier Station during weekends seems the same as on workdays. |
| Today's weather really seemed promising. :) |
| From the overall vibe, I see a few families and groups of friends around, which means weekends have better crowds than weekdays; somehow different or lesser than what I imagined. |
| Since we were early, I took T up to the top floor of Marina South Pier to see the sea view. |
| Ah, our ferry had arrived. |
| So excited for today's trip. |
| Hmm, it seemed they didn't change the timing. Oops, I forgot to include the date in case anyone uses my image as a reference... |
| Ooo, empty ferry? That's weird... |
| But we were told to take a different ferry hence the ferry exchanged to a smaller one. |
| Time to sail off. |
| Looks like they didn’t head to St John's Island jetty anymore and stop at Lazarus's jetty. Next time I want some peace and quiet, I’ll probably go to St John's Island. |
| Looking at the number of people here and getting ready for a picnic... The beach won't be a quiet one... |
| At the jetty, various groups were present, including snorkelers and kayakers. |
| Even the cat understands how I feel now... |
| We just followed the crowds towards the beach. |
| This remains my preferred beach in Singapore due to its affordability and accessibility. |
| The beach always reminds me how confident a person I wish to be: a sunny, healthy, and energetic individual. (In the past, I would describe it as a muscular and packed individual, but now I go for something that I truly want to be.) |
| Anyway, I looked far for my favourite spot... Scanning... |
| No one took over my spot, but the boat really put me off... The rich were having fun... |
| The sand was covered with dog paw prints, indicating the dog had an enjoyable time. |
| I informed T that the middle section of the waves is quite strong, though it can be enjoyable depending on your intended activity. |
I personally prefer a gentle wave, as it allows me to enjoy the water calmly. I particularly like the area near the edge where the water barrier provides coverage.
| Good morning :) my favourite pavilion! |
| Time to strip down and scare off some would-be island visitors eyeing the pavilion... I wore my favourite old Marcuse white trunk to the beach to make the most of it. |
| When they spotted an eyesore, they turned around and explored other areas instead... |
| Only Mr Sun accepts who and what I am... |
| Honestly, I’m working on healing and learning to accept myself. |
| Instead of beating myself today... |
| I have to admit... I don’t go to the gym because I have no time, and as I get older, I might end up even rounder and fatter... |
| I do my best to exercise and stay healthy, eating well most of the time. Even though I enjoy a snack now and then, I still try to keep my diet as clean as possible. |
| I know I don't have the perfect body or looks, not even close to the standard. |
| But I will say to myself... I’m good enough. Not perfect, but good enough, because I can become the worst. |
| I am not perfect like those visitors (Westerners) with fit and tight bodies and good-looking faces. They own the beach, which I wish I could... |
| But living in an unrealistic dream or having a wishful wishlist will not get me anywhere. I am not them, can't become them... So why not just enjoy the beach myself, or have a good suntan which I always want. |
| Since I cannot find my tent and mat, I just have to use this seat foam as my only sitting mat, because it is best to avoid letting the sand contact the trunk too much, as it will damage the fabric of the trunk. |
| I just want to preserve it as long as I can, and washing the trunk to get the sand out of the clothes is challenging and almost impossible. The sand particles will stay between the fabric. |
| But I know it won’t last long since I used it while tanning at the beach. |
| Just enjoy the moment and be proud of it. |
| I am that beach boy for the day. |
| Oh my, I wore the wrong pair of shoes. They are not suitable to wear, as they will cause abrasion. I notice that no matter the type, they will cause abrasion. I guess I will have to do a bit of research. |
| Oh my! The water was quite cold, so I needed time to acclimate before entering, while T chose to remain on the sand to sunbathe instead. |
| I was wondering what happens when a white trunk hits the sea water… it’ll turn brownish even when you washed it! Oh well, will test it out. |
| (Credit T) I sunbathed in the water while T tanned on the beach. Too bad, I got a sore throat and cannot perform a concert by the sea to keep myself entertained... But there were demigods and goddesses around, so better keep a low profile before they judge me. |
| Anyway, it was a short suntan session, and I got the general sense of the weekend crowd here. I still prefer weekdays quieter, but weekends are also doable. |
| If I have to go on weekends alone, then I will settle at St John's Island beach. |
| However, one good thing about having the ferry stop at Lazarus Jetty is the easy access to the public toilet, but it doesn't have a washing cubicle. |
| Only one here for wash up, so I will use it despite it being for the handicap. |
| So that we could get onto the ferry and rest throughout the whole ride. |
| Since we were the only passengers on the ferry, we were able to fully utilize the entire seating area. It was a highlight of all my Lazarus trip experiences. |
Overall, I just wanted a suntan session to heal myself and also wanted to check out the weekend crowds - definitely more people than weekdays but still manageable. Best to gather enough entertainment and water to pass the time by the beautiful beach. I will go to St. John's Island beach on the weekend to test out the tranquility there. Perhaps I can walk around in trunks like I own the whole island myself without worrying about anyone judging me.
