Today I am going to share with you one interesting shrimp which I have been looking for these years.
It's name, Atyopsis Moluccensis, AKA Singapore Shrimp, Wood Shrimp, Flower shrimp, Bamboo Shrimp and Marble Shrimp.

Pet - Tetra

Hi blog,

I had just added in Neon Tetra into my tank.

What is Neon Tetra? It is a freshwater fish and it is very common fish which sells in an aquarium.

Triops Diary - 15th Day of 2nd batch of Triops

Hi blog,

Sad to say, I should have five triops in the fish tank, but now left only two.......... :-(

Reason unknown. Maybe because I top up with new water (cold I guess) into the tank, which leaded to the death of the previous three triops. THEY ARE REALLY VERY SENSITIVE to the change of temperature. I will have to be careful next time.

Triops Diary - 8th Day of 2nd batch of Triops

Hi blog,

Even though the 8th day growth of triops has no different from 6th. But I can feel there is a different in between 2 - 3mm. Check this out!

I learned one important lesson from nature.

"The slower the growth, the longer their lifespan are.

The faster the growth, the shorter their lifespan are."

So our life is not about long or short. It is about while you are still breathing, what have you done anything meaningful to others?

Triops Diary - 6th Day of 2nd Batch of Triops

Hi Blog,

LOOK! LOOK! THEY GROW SO BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comparing them with 2nd Day of growing triops, it is IMPOSSIBLE!! and I read from somewhere, quoted from Wikipedia ,they will hatch out very quickly – often within less than a day. They will also grow at a remarkable pace; growth is actually noticeable from one day to the next until they reach their maximum size of approximately 2 inches (6 cms).

And they are SO CUTE!! Like small tiny WHITE COCKROACHES!!

I wonder 5 more days, what will they look like?

I think I get so excited, I overfeed them. Hmmm Hope it is okay for them.

Well, I shall start drawing Triops and post it. :D

Triops Diary - 2nd Day of 2nd Batch of Triops

SUCCESS!!!! I can't believe my eyes, the 2nd batch of Triops grow SO BIG!!?? Compare to the 1st batch (1st day), it grows very well!!

Triops Diary - 1st Day of 2nd Batch of Triops

Hi Blog,

Here is my second try of growing triops. According my failure of growing 1st batch triops, I concluded the temperature is MOST important factor of growing triops.

I scanned through Joseph's SMS, he mentioned about Triops are VERY sensitive to temperature. As what I had posted previously, the temperature of growing triops must be around 28 - 30 Degree Celsius.

So I decided to make a box to stay away cold temperature and buy new light bulb to heat up the box.

reporting.... the number of triops available is zero....

Conclusion, the temperature for growing triops MUST be around 28 - 30 Degree Celsius.

I touched the water, it was cold. NO wonder they died.... well, i think i will have to try the second patch next week. Wish me luck and lets pray for the dead one.... Sorry I am a lousy triops grower; my first time....

Triops Diary - 3rd Day of Growing

Hi blog,

Today is my 3rd day of growing triops. I checked CAREFULLY, there are 5 ~ 6 triops swimming in the tank. Too bad I can't take any video today. I JUST CAN't GET them focus in the camera. But I can say it double its size already. VERY exciting!!!

I noticed some students got more excited than I do. :)

I believe if everything go on smoothly, by next week the triops can be seem easily. (should be at least 0.5mm) Like this videos below shown first few days of triop growth

For this moment, I decide to put up this notice of the selling of Triops growing kit at Tampines Toys"R"us for S$19.00.

Hmmm the box seems exciting and nice. But one weird about it, is the tank.... Hmmm weird.... How come got two opening at the side? I wonder.... those who buy it, please let me know what is it.

NEW HOBBY!! Growing Triops!!

Hi blog,
I just started my new hobby on growing triops (scientific name: triops longicadatus). What are triops? Triops are living dinosaur fossil crustaceans, date back to the Triassic period, and it looks like horseshoe crab-liked, long-tail tadpole shrimp. Wow!!

I feel tired typing such a long description.

Interesting facts about triops
- it's basic prehistoric morphology has changed little in the LAST 70 million years!!
- they are family of crustacean include crabs and lobsters.
- they have a very short lifespan of 20 to 90 days only.
- their eggs are released in batches and have a thick shell and can stand freezing temperatures as well as drought.
- they can remain dry out completely for up to 20 years!! No wonder they still out-win the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.
