Hi Blog,
Let's continue our park exploration for the day - park (part) 3. The amount of pun here is perfect! (I understand it is not amusing.) Anyway, N8 Park is quite near
3G Park and
Lower Seletar Reservoir Park, which offer more space for residents to use.
I think this photo would be perfect as a theme cover for my future SG parks adventure post.
Let's explore this new park located beside HomeTeamNS Khatib - N8 Park! It was getting hotter and sunny, so we had to complete this as soon as possible.
| Welcome to my part @ 3sgjeffery's blog! Hahaha |
| I tried to find out why it was named Yishun N8 Park, since it is often referred to as Yishun Park or the neighbourhood parks, but it is named after the Yishun residential town, which itself honours Lim Nee Soon. However, it doesn't explain why N8. |
| The map of the park looks like it covers quite an area. |
| They tried to space out everything in the area, then crumble it all together. |
| A visually appealing and timeless design concept for a spiral bicycle parking structure. |
| Ooooo! There is an interesting wooden deer silhouette in the park. I'm not certain of its purpose, but it reminds me of animals hidden in the forest. |
| In the center near the entrance... |
| I noticed a platform, but I'm uncertain whether it's meant for performances or photo sessions. It seems a little small for dancing, so perhaps it's intended for musical performances. |
| Oooo! A reindeer silhouette spotted! I think there might be more of these in this park. It can serve as a mini challenge game for children to look for animals.. |
| Ooo, a big letter wording - Calm. |
| A structure resembling a residential house. |
| It is an interesting place to snap photos at. If I get time, I will try to take a proper one. |
| My third finding - a silhouette of a female deer. |
| Based on the overview of N8 Park, there are limited shelters available. |
| Fourth silhouette found - a kangaroo. I thought I would find more deer, but it seemed like it didn't focus on one type of animal. |
| Sorry, rooster, you are not a silhouette, but you can definitely be part of it. I think this rooster is angry with me for snapping photos of it. |
| It is quite standard to have workout stations in the park for the elderly. Ooo, eight-pointed star on the ground, nice. |
| Ah, here is the name of this park before it was called N8 Park. |
| A shelter that serves only aesthetic purposes. |

| Next section - Play. |
.jpg) |
| The fifth silhouette hippopotamus is grazing on the grass. |
.jpg) |
| There are many physical games here; if the kids are willing to play, then it will be engaging. |
| Nice! Sixth silhouette - Cow. Did they make a life-size version of the animals here? |
| Very colourful playground here, but under direct sunlight, those PVC plastics might be scalding. |
I don’t need to cover every spot since it’s all open space.
The path here is narrow, so if there are cyclists or park-goers, please be mindful and patient in sharing the walking space with one another.
| Chill station or chilli corner? Haha, no difference when you can find gardeners here and there, growing chilli too. |
| The plots here are quite big. If I can share a plot with the owner and access the water system, that would be great. Stop daydreaming after checking my bank account. |
| Fun section: It should be the last big area that I can find in N8 Park. So, they have four sections: Calm, Chill, Play, and Fun, which are the key elements that a park should have. |
| The seventh and last animal silhouette is the horse. I didn't try to stand beside the wooden board to confirm my thought about whether it is life-size, but I know the hippopotamus, cow, and horse are rather small. I guess they wouldn't waste the wooden panel on something that no one bothers to think about or appreciate. |
| Wow, Honestly, I love these playgrounds here. They are fun and allow many imaginative possibilities for play. |
| Too bad, now as a grown-up, that imaginative and playing carefree are near impossible to achieve... |
| Wow, this place looks fun! |
| Trying my best to capture a jump shot; it was difficult to achieve with the timer. I should have just recorded in 4K and then saved the selected image. |
| Anyway, it was time to go home. I could feel the burn on my shoulder and neck. I will continue at 'Park' 4 in Yishun in a few days. |
| Overall, N8 Park got four stars because it has a decent size as a park, many facilities like playgrounds, and necessary structures like shelters. It also sets a standard for being calm, chill, play, and fun. Additionally, it has a unique theme, like animal silhouettes. But why four stars, you may ask? Because it doesn't have much scenery. |
Okay, it was a fun trip to really get to know a place. In the future, here will be my scoring rubric: does a park have these elements: calm, chill, play, fun, and scene?
Calm - the overall atmosphere of the park, which is subjective and personal.
Chill - whether the environment provides park-goers with a safe space to relax, typically including features such as shelters, benches, and workout areas.
Play - Are there adequate facilities for recreational activities?
Fun - Is the park experience enjoyable for visitors?
Scene - Does the park feature any distinctive or notable scenery?
I hope this clarifies my rating of the park for anyone who may be curious.
Jeff
