Personal - Halloween Celebration @ Woodgrove

Hi Blog,

Happy Halloween! I had been anticipating today for a while. I'd been thinking about what to dress up as these days. Some costumes appeared to be in the works, and I've been wanting to cosplay as... for quite some time now.

My Tron-Spidey costume, which I acquired in 2017. (blog link)
Let me give myself a chance to try this! Anyway, back on topic. Woodgrove's annual Halloween event takes place today! (thenewparents website) So exciting!

It's so sad. My Tron disc spoilt... Cannot light up... I'll just go ahead and use it!
Beneath my Tron-Spidey suit, I have my trisuit to hold my fat at least... But it seems like it can't help much... So fat...
Compared to 2017, when I first got this suit, I was a bit slimmer... But now... I don't know how to feel. It is what it is... I am an eyesore, and so be it...
My sister's friend, L, wanted to dress up as the legendary Sister Hong. It's funny that she added extra oranges to boost her ego. Haha
Appreciate you accompanying me to this Halloween gathering. I'm uncertain about how I'd experience it if I attended solo. I might not even bother with a costume.
Sister Hong's spirit permeated L, and she commenced to act mischievously, resembling one. Now I got super shy and almost got hxxx on (which I did but luckily, she didn't see it)
Tron-Spidey! A fat, less muscular, and short Spidey... I could hear many nasty comments in my mind...
I guess... My face was covered so no one will judge my stupid and ugly face and just focus on my lousy body... Lesser damage...
I had almost given up, but thanks to Sister Hong for trying to assure me that I am alright. Thank you. I will give myself a chance to enjoy the event.
My sister agreed to join and drive us there, but there was a traffic jam before getting there. They were heading towards Woodgrove Avenue!
I told my sister, "Don't enter that avenue and just head to a carpark elsewhere." We decided to get down and walk to that avenue, as you could see the traffic and crowds.
Legendary Sister Hong and...
An untoned Tron-Spidey, which not many people know about, was going to roam Woodgrove Avenue.
Honestly, I couldn't see the Halloween house decorations properly. I just took my phone and snapped photos randomly. I wanted to snap photos of the details, but the traffic and crowds wouldn't like a blind person stuck in the middle of the flow.
Trying to snap again, but I couldn't figure out where I was stepping.
Check out the crowds here. OMG!
A small street, but packed with an ocean of people and incoming cars (might be the residents here who don't celebrate Halloween).
Trying to take a selfie with the crowd, but I didn't realize that my phone was in the wrong mode, and the picture turned out blurry.
Fortunately, my sister arrived in time and helped to snap a few pictures that I had missed. Just look at how amazing or horrifying the house turned out to be.
It seemed like the residents in the house were giving out candy to the visitors. How kind of them!
Managed to snap a shot which fully illustrated the Halloween celebration at Woodgrove - the houses with colourful lights and the crowds; uniquely in Singapore.
Oops, my blurry picture happened again. Sorry about that!
It seemed like many people recognized Sister Hong. Even people from afar called out her name. I noticed that Sister Hong is quite recognizable and popular among the adults, while Spiderman is for the kids.
Many people wanted to have a picture taken with her. Haha. My sister told me that many people saw me as Spider-Man; they were waving at me, but I didn't respond (like as if I could see them in the dark and blind situation...)
This house looks a bit too bright for Halloween. Haha, it's like they are having a party on Halloween night.
Ooo, something colourful! After I snapped a photo, I tried to have a closer look and wasted the opportunity to take more photos there.
I'm trying to take a selfie, but people just don't want to stop halfway.
Sorry for the blurry photo again. Ooo, just when I thought most Halloween themes would involve Western scary elements, this house has something different - it focuses on Asian themes. Actually, this is a unique presentation! I wish to attend an Asian Halloween-themed party!
The amount of effort put into setting that up needs to be commendable.
Actually, the owner covered their carpark with screens to make a zone, with simple coloured lights, shellfish screaming audio in the background, and drawings of some Chinese folk tales demons. It can be better, but it's free, so don't get high expectations, just pure appreciation. The owner also gives out free water bottles for visitors, which shows a lot of care and love.
Taking these down is hellish, so thank you to the owner.
Hmm, a funny mix of ideas - It was like a palace, and clouds were around, suggesting they wanted to create a Chinese celestial heaven mixed with demonic vibes. That's effort. I wonder if they have a healthy Halloween competition here.
I'm not sure if that was the owner of the house; a random dude was there trying to help people take a group picture with this Wukong. I appreciate that.
By the way, I really appreciate that there are still some parents or kids willing to approach me to have a photo with them. Their smiles (which I can only view from my sister's photo) swept my inferiority away temporarily.
I wish I didn't have to cover their faces, because their smiles are something I miss. Thanks for taking me as Spidey.
Another walk in the house, where the owner displayed their pumpkin decorations in the car park area and allowed visitors to come in for photos.
Some place became my fantasy dungeon, as if I was chained up. Luckily, my mind didn't go too deep into imagination.
Finally, I got to take a photo with an adult cosplayer who wanted to have a picture with me. Thank you so much!
Okay, I will stop wearing the mask, as I wore it for a good two hours in the dark street with my limited, blurred vision. After I took off my mask, no one bothered to give me any attention, which is back to my real life (an eyesore)... Unlike those demigods trying to dress up for Halloween night in the social media feeds... I am nobody.
Overall, visiting Woodgrove Avenue during Halloween night is a special chance for Singaporeans to dress up in their costumes and celebrate the festive occasion (even though it was a business strategy for making money). Just take note that it will be crowded and packed; manage your expectations regarding the Halloween decorations. Additionally, besides Woodgrove Avenue, Sembawang estate (thenewageparents link) also has very nice decorations and is also less crowded somehow, which you can check out too.

Personally, I would like to visit there earlier. After one round of the parade, I want to dress in costume on that actual day. I also want to find a day before to snap pictures of the houses without much crowd.
