Hiking - Veranda Banyan Revisit

TGIF Blog,

Something random and impromptu that I did today: I had a blood test appointment in the morning, and since it was a school holiday, I had taken last year's leave to clear. Hence, I decided to clear my leave.

Now was the headache part; where should I cover?
Based on the title, I suppose you know where I'm heading. In fact, there are so many places in my mind to visit, so why did I pick that place? I will explain along the way. You can read my previous exploration of this place (blog link), if you missed it.

Oh my... My SKINS brand trisuit is wearing off; the zipper has broken. Sooner or later, I won't be wearing this anymore.
Today's weather seemed rather cold.
Alright, it's time to feel the pain, and fortunately, it was a quick one, but I was very tense.
While I was heading to take a train to the West Side, that dark storm in the distance didn't seem promising...
And checking on the opposite side, Miss Sky is a funny and unpredictable individual.
I'm feeling positive today, so I took a selfie, but I regretted it afterwards. Haha
The train towards the residential zones was so peaceful, while the train to the city was packed like sardines!
This is my first time alighting at Hume Station. It is a quiet and not a fanciful station.
Time to transform! Transform into a weirdo! So I can be an eyesore to anyone along the way.
Oooo, I almost forgot that there was a storm earlier, but it has stopped. Great!
It seemed like I couldn't eyesore anyone along the way.
Because this residential area is for the rich, who don't use the pavement.
Anyway, we have arrived at the destination.
Hmm... Perhaps it was my second time coming to this spot; the vibe of the place changed so much... It felt different from how it had been during my first visit... You can check my previous visit here.
I really don't know where to start...
I felt that I should enter from here.
Tada! Found! That veranda banyan tree spot.
There are many banyan trees here.
It seems like something is hiding inside.
Here is the special structure still holding its ground while holding the weight of the banyan tree.
Honestly, I don't feel safe standing here.
I am still wondering what this 'veranda' structure is doing here? And why is it named a veranda? Honestly, I don't know either.
Can you see the structure, and mark the perimeter of this place?
I wanted to walk into the banyan forest, but the root system below made me feel anxious, as if something was hiding, so I just snapped a picture outside.
I don't know the story here, which I can't find online. It looks like there was someone who resided here.
I wanted to walk further to check it out, but the place was totally overrun with thick foliage. Guess no one comes here often...
Because, based on my previous visit (link), I could get a better view of this veranda at the front.
I guessed... I will snap pictures from the side.
Check out this close-up of the veranda before the plants took over!
I could explore further, but the foliage was thick and tall. I don't feel safe just walking through as it is. I guess I will leave it as it is before the vines start to take me hostage.
I guess this will be my last visit to this place. I am glad it will remain in my memory.
Let's explore other places nearby.
It has been a while since I visited that tower.
I feel like something is hiding to my left, but... it doesn't seem like a good idea to check it out. I guess I'll just trust my gut this time, unlike my other hikes.
Hmm, it's funny that the stairs lead up and there is no more concrete path, as if it stops halfway to no destination and leaves you to explore on your own..
Here is the Bukit Batok Transmission Centre, Media Corp, now stained by this ugly nerd. Haha
I wonder if this is still working?
Oh man, Bukit Batok is under renovation...
Syonan Chureito Memorial
There is a giant book about the history of Singapore.
I guess I will end my hike here since I can't explore Bukit Batok.
I gotta check out some places again since they might have changed since I last went. Sometimes, going back is great for refreshing my memory, just like catching up with old pals.
And also my red trisuit... This one is going to be gone soon..
I plan to revisit Veranda Banyan Tree when the weather is drier. Although it may be more challenging, it won't be a primary attraction blog post like this one after Bukit Batok completes its renovation.

Jeff
