Trip - Abandoned Sport Complex

Hi Blog,

Initially, J alerted me and suggested today's exploration. Still, I had heard a lot of news about this location and was hesitant to go because I felt uneasy about visiting it. But after some encouragement from Chasing Peak, I decided to try it.

Today seemed like the perfect day to go exploring.
Sorry for digressing; I considered posting this on my blog at a later date, but my blogging principles said no! So I determined to stick to it. Anyway, today's vibe was different, so I went to check it out without any expectations.

I am all ready. Let's go!
Travelling there was a long distance, and it took me over an hour.
Arrived.
The bus driver was perplexed as to why I had stopped at this bus stop, where almost no one stopped regularly.
Round architectural structures reveal a lot about their age because many architects used to build in this style. Wait... Did you notice a white light on the CCTV? It still functions.
Opposite the building was an old building with a sign above 1934 AD, implying that this place was built in 1934.
If you want to read more about the places I visited, you can check this link here. I didn't want to spell out the actual name or talk about the history because I am no researcher or expert, and I prefer to keep my post low profile.
Oh no... It was locked, and there was no way in. From this perspective, it appeared to be a typical Singapore sports hall.
You can not see the 90-degree corner from the outside. Its architecture is unique and classic.
However, the interior will follow the standard structure.
Spidery, may I check this place out?
Weird... I could hear something around here... Like I was not alone. My heart began to race, and I felt nervous.
I guessed... I will be careful when I move around.
The iconic swimming pool was right outside, and I noticed something new: human activity had been left unfinished. Where could they have been?
The signage and door handle here exhibit a classic design.
Ooo, what is this room? 😂 I forgot the sport's name because I do not have a chance to play it.
I was just thinking about what happened to the walls... Was it from ball marks or animal poop?
The time had stopped around that time.
Smooth and organic structure.
I was wondering if there was another way to get here.
Okay, let's explore the swimming pool!
Public washing area. Insert the song "Baywatch". Many demigods and mortals had washed up here before.
The green algae bloom in the water by the pool seemed unappealing for a quick dip. I doubt I will swim in there unless there is an emergency. I did not do a closer inspection to see if there was a mosquito problem, but I know there was not because I did not get many mosquito bites.
Ooo, 1.9m wow! I have never swum in such depth before.
Okay, I wanted to take some more pictures by the pool, perhaps with a drone, but I tried not to stay too long, especially since there were people around.
Let us go up to the second level. Oops, I did not realise my hand was inside the frame. 😂
An open area where guests can relax and look out at the unobstructed evening sky.
A hex above my head like a web 🕸️ or umbrella.
This appeared to be a function room.
Hmm, a concentrated zone of bird activity; I am curious how it formed.
🤔 It looks like a small delivery lift... Clothing, documents, or beverages have been delivered?
Why was there a hand washer here? This was not a toilet; perhaps this location was used for other purposes.
I wanted to walk down this corridor, but I realised the sound I heard earlier was on this floor, so I needed to be cautious.
Then I skipped that floor and went up one more level.
The bird windscreen was installed to prevent birds from entering the premises unattended, but it does not keep bats out.
Oooo! It looked like another function room!
Or a studio room?
What is this, a Lotto or Bingo board?
No board is suitable for a poor man like me to play.
Ooo, this place can be dangerous because you never know what might fall on your head.
Interesting window here, as it was extended to prevent direct sunlight and sound from entering, or maybe...
If you look out, you will notice courts, which may also prevent tennis balls from hitting the windows directly. Nothing but a wild imagination and reasoning.
A stage for live performances! Perhaps they really tried to avoid any disruption from the outside that could affect the inside.
The next stop was their offices. Everything was moved out, and I did not look any further because I was fine with the situation as it was.
Hmm, I could still hear the sound of someone using their phone on the second floor. I try to avoid it as much as possible.
Hmm, what is the AHU room?
I tried searching online but could not find anything relevant to what I was looking for. Who knows what an AHU room is, and what purpose do you think this large room served?
The sign indicated that this was a sauna room in an unusual location, or that I had not properly inspected it.
I am uncertain whether this is a wallpaper or the outcome of something that has been removed.
The sign indicated 'kitchen non-Muslim,' which raises questions about its connection to the AHU room and the presence of a kitchen. What's going on?
Hmm... Preparing food on the top floor was a great idea. (sarcastically)
I seem to have forgotten the name of this room, as I did not take a picture by the door. This room has also caused me some confusion.
Next room was a billiards room.
I have never played billiards in my life, and I doubt I will enjoy it 😂
Oooo, a pigeon stood by the window, judging me. Haha
In another empty room, there was something different, like an instruction.
The classic instruction, which we rarely see nowadays, is an illustration of a man and a woman working out; for the time being, they will use graphics to represent them.
So this room served as a gym. Ooo, this is my first time learning how to spell 'bylaw' correctly; it should be 'byelaw!' I tried to Google it, but some people use bylaw instead of byelaw, so what exactly is it?
After the gym, I climbed a staircase to discover a dried rat body on the floor... Unfortunately, I cannot provide a proper cover... May it rest in peace. 🙏🏼
This staircase was fairly dark and could be creepy if explored at night with a torch.
Ooo, I came to a rooftop and wanted to explore further, but I felt like I should not waste time here, so I should trust my instincts.
I wondered why there were sea almonds all over the place here. I found this in other places as well, but in smaller amounts. Given the size of the sea almonds, I doubt the bats will eat them... When I googled what animal would eat this, I found a few possibilities: parrot, fruit bat, and squirrel. Hmm, fruit bats could be the main suspect.
Returning to the swimming pool, where the water is a vibrant shade of green! So, have you noticed anything? There are new cables connected from somewhere outside (left side), which explains why...
...this clock is still functional.
Okay, one more last shot from this angle.
I wonder how I could miss out on such an iconic spot.
Unfortunately, I did not come here when it was in its best condition. Now I am looking for its logo, which explains why the entire architecture follows the logo design!
Let us take a closer look at the water. Actually, there is a good amount of algae, and it is not dirty; in fact, it is natural, as is our tap water, albeit in a less concentrated amount.
If I know I can get a good rinse after swimming there, I'm in, but definitely not in my white trunks or trisuit.
This one is classic; I used to see this graphic by the pool when I was younger, but I do not see it anymore.
Then I tried to figure out where the sound was coming from, and fortunately, he was resting rather than working. Thank Heaven.
There was a mini-room next to where the guy was resting.
It looked like a security room. Simply look at the monitor screen; this location may have been evacuated before or around the year 2000.
Hmm, as I continued exploring on the same floor, knowing I was safe because that guy was sleeping, where did this take me?
Oooo! I came to a large hall! Let us go down there and get a closer look.
As I walked down to the basement, there was a toilet, but it didn't look like it one...
No time to explore the toilet, continue to the main hall.
This metal door is a popular option for ventilation and its cost in various hall premises across Singapore.
I was curious about the purpose of this hall, but it is certainly a lovely space. As I walked through, I felt grateful to Chasing Peak for this.
The classic logo, enhanced by a vibrant colour theme, illustrates an arrow that evokes the image of a plane soaring through the sky..
Last look at the hall. What a beauty.
Some random shots here, and I think I will stop exploring.
Thanks to Heaven and 'the host' of this building, they had been kind to me, as I came and left without leaving anything behind.
Oooo! Before I left, I noticed beautiful flooring at the entrance; I have to respect the artist who invested time and effort to achieve these satisfying results.
I truly enjoyed a fun and safe exploration. I'm happy I managed to visit this place before it was gone.
The site was once home to the SIA Sports Club, located on Turnhouse Road. This impressive complex, celebrated for its striking architectural design from the 1980s, garnered numerous awards for its aesthetic appeal. It features an array of sports facilities that cater to a variety of athletic pursuits. Among these amenities is an Olympic-sized swimming pool, perfect for competitive training and leisure swimming. The club also boasts several basketball courts, tennis courts, and squash courts, each designed to foster both friendly games and serious competitions. Additionally, there is a versatile multi-purpose hall that can easily be transformed to accommodate badminton courts. I believed in the past, this centre was likely a popular hub for sports enthusiasts, drawing in members who enjoyed the camaraderie and competitive spirit fostered within its walls. (Thanks ChatGPT)
