Hi Blog,
I thought can I cosplay something else? Besides Captain America, which one is my favourite? Personally, I want to be Spiderman, but without my glasses, I would be blind, and my spider suit has some flaws...
So I am wondering if there is any character that I would like to be. In fact, there is one. |
Yes, as the title implies, I have been a fan of Ultraman since I was a child, and I imagined myself as the protagonist, serving in the Earth Defence Force and saving people while no one knew his true identity. I suppose... I had a strong desire to help others in unsung ways.
I figured I could cosplay as Earth Defence Force rather than Ultraman (same issue as being blind as Spiderman), so I ordered the Ultraman Tiga GUTS costume.
This is how the GUTS team costume looks on his slim body, and it looks amazing and manly. How I wish I were that slim... |
The protagonist's name is Madoka Daigo (Hiroshi Nagano). I miss the days when actors did not need to be buffed to be popular. Although his acting and attitude are important in the industry, there is no denying that he is good-looking. |
And I absolutely love their uniform a lot. The white, red, and grey design made them appear very professional. Take a closer look at their uniform; it is a racer-inspired suit, with the grey fabric serving a different purpose; I believe it is the best way to avoid inner thigh abrasion. If I had to wear such a uniform to work, I would not mind wearing it indefinitely! |
Madoka Daigo is Ultraman Tiga in human form. Ultraman Tiga also looks cool, but if I try to dress up, I will turn into Ultraman Blind. |
Take a moment to admire the detailed drawing of them in their striking uniforms; they look incredibly impressive and confident! |
While the cover design is impressive and visually appealing, the protagonist looks different from how he appears on the covers... |
Unfortunately, the content of the comic does not match the cover art, leading to disappointment. |
Here is the sample content... and just nope... |
Anyway, I digressed... I searched online, and this is the style they have... To be honest, I am not pleased. I feel it is loose and cheap; I believe it is the fabric they used, and meh... Unfortunately, no one in this market cosplays Daigo, so I can not find any alternatives to this costume unless I make it myself or hire someone skilled enough and knowledgeable about the fabric, which is impossible. Online, if the racing suit company can create a custom design, I will contact them.
Anyway, let's look into the suit. Ooo, PVC leather material. |
However, there is a loose sewing method... Why can not they sew this seamlessly?
But love the GUTS logo :) So pretty |
Daigo! If I can change the name, I will put mine.
Overall, I love this costume, but I am hoping I can ask the maker to make the changes I want. |
There is an inner fabric that connects the PVC leather to our skin. This is a common practice for costumes and jackets... I believe it is because of the PVC leather. Why can they not use polyester fabric to create costumes?
Let me try it on. |
Hmm... Weird... Why did I strike the Captain America pose?
I've come to the conclusion that I'm probably too stocky or overweight for it. I really wish I were slim or muscular to look good in the costume. Nevertheless, I truly love the colour and design; it resembles a uniform with a red tie.
Just look at this – tall and slim; I don't need to be muscular... I don't have either... |
However, I truly love the uniform; it's so manly, and I'm so excited to finally have one that makes my dream come true! |
Oh no... I purchased a pair of gloves that are fully covered when I didn’t notice that they shouldn’t be... |
I attempted to find the closest tactical belt, but this one is not as it should be... |
And together, I got a gun pouch. |
Secure the gun pouch onto the belt. |
Hmm... Looks heavy though... |
At least it’s something closer, considering that the costume is not originally designed. |
Time to transform! |
Looked like I was missing something... |
Okay! I know! I don't have its proper gun and helmet. |
I searched online for the GUTS helmet, but I need help finding retailers that sell helmets. The only option I found was a specific seller on Malaysian Shopee. I can not buy anything from Malaysia Shopee because the platform only serves Malaysians, so I will have to ask a Malaysian colleague to help me buy the helmet, ship it to his address, and then deliver it to me. Purchasing this helmet was not easy either... Because of some flaws, they rejected and refunded my colleague twice, and as a result, my colleague no longer wanted to deal with them, so I was able to obtain the contract to complete the purchase and arrangement myself.
Before it was taken down, I better save the images for my blog in case I was duped... Throughout these two months, I continued looking for sources to make GUTS helmets but could not find another... I felt both challenging and desperate. 😭
21st Aug 2024 - To make matters worse, getting the right GUTS gun is difficult; there are no GUTS guns for sale in Singapore... I can only get it from eBay or the overseas carousel. eBay has ridiculously high shipping fees, like USD150+ for the product and $150+ for shipping! 😱 And that is in USD! I cannot access overseas carousels, as my local carousel only features second-hand listings that do not ship to Singapore. However, I recently came across a Facebook post by Bennie Toys Store. I understand the risks of purchasing from an unknown source, but I have no choice but to take that risk. We communicated and made arrangements for the transaction.
23rd Aug 2024 - I researched why there are no gun sales in Singapore. Due to the required approval from the ICA to import toy-like guns, I wrote in to seek approval, and I received it! I sent it to Bennie so he could put everything together at the post office. |
13th Nov 2024 - After more than two months, he took a picture of the gun, and it finally arrived at his store! YES! |
17th Nov 2024 - Good news had not stopped; the helmet was completed, and he kindly met me at Woodland to collect it instead of paying for shipping or picking it up in JB. |
Looking great! |
I love the shape of the helmet. |
The shape of the top of the helmet looks unusual... |
At least the painting was done properly and with effort. |
Nice and glossy |
It appears that they pasted the material around an actual white helmet and I can't move the windscreen though. |
How do I look? |
Let's put everything up! I am Daigo... |
the Light Inheritor! |
23rd Nov 2024 - The parcel came! |
I expected the item to be in second-hand condition, but it is actually in perfect condition! |
Beautiful! Now, how many guns do I have at home? |
Almost done; just need to replace the gloves and two more accessories, but it should work.
Overall, putting together this costume was quite the journey. Checking online, I believe I am the first or few cosplayers to cosplay as Daigo Madoka, as many people want to cosplay Ultraman. Personally, I just go with what I like. Since most of the accessories have arrived in time, this will be one of the costumes I bring to the Comic Con!
