Hiking - Island Club Road Path

Good Morning Blog,

ZN arrived yesterday and stayed overnight at my house to finish the game he had left unfinished and go on a hike.

I was thinking about today's whole-day event. I have to lead an activity for the elderly in the afternoon, assist with a class in the evening, and play badminton with my brother at night. What a long day.

So today's walk will be brief because, on one of my recent hikes in MacRitchie, I discovered a new route to Upper Peirce Reservoir and decided to try it.

Based on the weather report and pattern, today should be a good day.

It was a beautiful day, and ZN was ready to go outside, but I was still busy taking photos.

Trying to check in and see how my plants are doing in my grow tent.

I was wondering why it was so bright today... Then I realised I had accidentally selected manual mode and set the ISO too high, so it is no surprise that my photos were overexposed.

Anyway, back to the topic, today was a Saturday so morning time will be packed with visitors.

Regardless of the situation, I simply focused on my own hike.

ZN preferred to keep some distance to avoid any embarrassment from my untoned appearance and attire. Understandably.

I finally found the quick release for my camera that I lost during my jog on 29th Oct 2024! After I finished jogging and realized I had lost it, I went back out in the dark to search for it. With only the limited light from my phone's flashlight, I struggled to see and it felt dangerous, especially when some wild boar families were walking right beside me. Luckily, they remained very calm. Thank Heaven!

Here is the new route I was referring to.

This path will lead to Upper Peirce Reservoir Park.

I'm not sure if the green walls indicate that this path is completed or not.

Hmm, this path is unnamed; I shall call this Island Club Road Path.

Ah, they are constructing these metal fences behind the green walls.

Why it was called Island Club Road Path?

The Country Club, known as Island Club, shared a section of the road for public access.

Personally, it serves as a divider between the elite and the common people...

A commoner like me could never gain access to such a country club...

What a quiet path

It's beneficial to have a shelter located midway along the path.

Because I can sit here quietly and daydream about the scenery.

I realized that I needed to stop daydreaming and continue on my path to find ZN.

I had to elevate myself (my camera) to get closer to this stunning greenery...

The act of sharing a small portion of their land is often viewed as a form of "blessing" by the wealthy.

Observing monkeys behind the metal fence, it's akin to how the wealthy may view us.

At the junction, we'll take a turn.

Oh, there is a rocky bed here where I can lie down and relax; however, having a rock to support my head is difficult. However, I enjoy lying down and would prefer to do so if ZN did not ask me to continue the journey.

Ah, another side of Upper Peirce. I like this scene because there are no urban structures in the background.

Ooo, a gate with a lion mane-like extension.

My imagination started to load

Looks like a forbidden gate to nowhere, trapping anyone who enters.

This is the end of the Island Club Road path, but it can also be considered the beginning.

If I visit this area first, it could be a good alternative route back home for me.

I may not have the wealth to step on carpet grass heaven, but I do have this - a gift from the government and Heaven.

I have unlimited access to enjoy the river view...

...and unlimited shameless self-expression moment! 🤮 moment!

I wanted to take some more pictures here, but ZN was far away from me, as he couldn't wait to go home immediately.

I realized that my camera battery was low, so it was time to leave.

What started as a brief exploration turned into a journey filled with interesting sights. The reservoir bank was particularly captivating, with its serene water and lush surroundings. The unobstructed horizon stretched out into the sky, making it a truly memorable experience.
